One thing I want to be upfront about is roof painting. Painting your tiles is a cosmetic decision, not a structural one. According to a CSIRO information sheet on concrete roofing tiles, appearance is the only reason to paint. Concrete tiles perform no differently with or without paint, and they actually become stronger and less porous over time. If someone is telling you that your tiles are failing because they have lost their surface coating, that is not supported by the evidence. I will always be clear about what is genuinely structural and what is purely cosmetic.
